Pre-Show Party - The PROTOADS* will again offer a "Red Beans and Rice" Social from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday, April 16, in the party room of the Best Western Motel, next to Pensacola Beach. Registration is open Friday night and from 8:30 am to noon on Saturday.
Judging is by "People's Choice". Each vehicle entered will receive a ballot and dash plaque placed in the car at noon. Voting closes at 2:00 pm and awards are at 3:30 pm. There will be approximately 24 classes as in past years and classes will be determined by entries received for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies. There also are several special awards and some surprise awards. This is not a "concours" show, but a chance for British car lovers to get together, display their cars and have a good time. Any car can go home with a trophy. So bring your British "ride" this year and enjoy the camaraderie.
There is also Valve Cover Racing at approximately 2:00pm. Must be a British valve cover with overall length no more than 24 inches and no propulsion other than gravity.
Accommodations are available at the PENSACOLA BEACH BEST WESTERN MOTEL, (800) 934-3301, at $79.00 off beach and $89.00 beachfront. We will have dusk to dawn professional security at the motel parking lot both Friday and Saturday nights. When making reservations, mention the British Car Show to receive reduced rates. New Valve Cover Racers Built
Eight new valve cover racers rolled off the production line at the February 7th Valve Cover Seminar and Construction Session at Tom Schmitz’s garage in Lillian, AL. After doing the basic work of assembly, mounting wheel assemblies and ramp testing, the racers were taken home for final touches of painting, decorating and fine tuning.
Those attending were: Joe Stephens came with Bill Snyder in Bill’s MGB V8. Thanks to Bill for picking up the chicken which provided the energy for the builders as they worked. Jim Cromwell brought the ramp for the testing and few impromptu races. Dieter Bruening drove his XKS and Bob Henson got the E-type out for the day. Kevin Curran had his TR6 and Bill Moseley his TR8. Mickey Kay had a special set of wheels that seemed to lead the testing runs. Sandy and Sam Walter from the South Alabama Club came over from Mobile joined the group and build a racer.
Looks like there will be a lot of competition at the Pensacola Beach Races at the April 17th British Car Show.
